CLAY TILES!!!!!!

In class we have been making clay tiles describing ourselves. In mine I used a whale tail which means intelligence, and a net ball which means my love for netball. The other two things on there are a paw print representing my love for pets and finally a road because I'm always travelling. This is to go to our class Waharoa

Tsunami Report

INDIAN OCEAN TSUNAMI INFORMATION                                   REPORT!!

In Class We have been working on information report, we got to choose any natural disaster of our choice. I chose the Indian Ocean Tsunami as my natural disaster, I've included things like the deaths, after the tsunami and the damage.
Hope You Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Introduction:
December 26 2004 the day after christmas, disaster shook many people’s lives, and killed thousands.  A the highest magnitude earthquake struck the indian ocean affecting many countries surrounding, this deadly disaster triggered an enormous tsunami which killed thousands.  This killer quake and wave holds second highest death toll in all recorded history this was the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami.  Many things were lost such as lives food animals homes and more, and some people are still missing from this day forward

The two tectonic plates under the Indian Ocean, the Indian Plate and the Burma Plate, collided at the Sunda Trench creating the highest magnitude earthquake in 40 years, which triggered the tsunami. The earthquake had a whopping 9.3 magnitude, which is the same power as 23,000 atomic bombs.  It hit off the coast of Sumatra Indonesia, where waves reaching up to the height of 100 ft (30 m), hit the countries of the indian ocean.  The plates that caused the earthquake were building up pressure for what was said millions of years.  The power was so strong that it shifted countries at least 1 centimetre.  The two tectonic plates under the Indian Ocean, the Indian Plate and the Burma Plate, collided at the Sunda Trench creating the highest magnitude earthquake in 40 years, which triggered the tsunami.

The tsunami destroyed nearly everything from animals to vegetation to homes and the saddest thing of all is that it destroyed thousands of people’s lives and families.  The devastating waves killed 280,000 people across only thirteen countries, and 8,000 tourists from only Thailand were killed in the waves as well.  Only three days after the killer wave 80,000 people were reported missing, with many more to come.

The repair damage after the Indian Ocean tsunami was estimated to cost
around 10 billion dollars and most of the damage was very uneasily fixed like all of the vegetation that was stripped from mountains.  People all around the globe helped by donating a total of 6.25 billion dollars to help people rebuild their lives.  Australia was the first to have a crew over to help find people and save them.  But sadly 2 million were left homeless after the disaster.  The two tectonic plates under the Indian Ocean, the Indian Plate and the Burma Plate, collided at the Sunda Trench creating the highest magnitude earthquake in 40 years, which triggered the tsunami.

This is a natural disaster that will never be forgotten killing thousands of people, destroying thousands of homes and possessions.  Lots of families lost loved ones, although many people are still missing to this day forward and will probably never be found.  People today are still affected by the nuclear plant that the wave hit.
