This Summer my school (Awahono School) are taking part in the Summer Learning Journey, where each week we get assigned three activities to complete and then to put on our blogs. Activity information down below--
Activity One the first settlers: It is widely believed that the first people to arrive in New Zealand came from Polynesia. Most historians believe that they landed in New Zealand over 700 years ago. Although they were originally from many different countries, these settlers learned to live together and, eventually, formed their own distinct culture known as ‘Māori.’ Māori have their own language, traditions, and culture.
Task: Follow this link to read a short story about a famous man in Māori mythology – Maui. On your blog, post three facts that you learned about this interesting man. What other stories have you heard about Maui?
Make sure to check my blog again in a couple of days to see more posts like this one.
Hi Ella
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Summer Learning Journey! My name is Allie and I will be blogging with you over the summer.
You have made a great start to the programme. This first post is amazing. I love the way you have presented it.
You have really understood the story well. There are so many other myths about Maui. I'm sure your school library has some good ones for you to read next year.
Well done Ella, I am looking forward to reading your posts over the summer. Don't forget to go and comment on other students who are doing the programme also as this is worth 2 points for each comment.
Keep up the good work Ella
Until next time
Allie :)
